Is your school approved?

Yes. The Laurel Stone School of Real Estate is approved by the Department of Regulation and Licensing to teach salesperson courses, broker courses and continuing education.

Does the Brokers Class count as Continuing Education?

No, a broker's LICENSE waives the continuing education for the 2 year time frame during which you have obtained your license. For instance, you took the broker's class in 2009, tested in 2009 and applied for and received your license in 2010 so then you do not have to do continuing education for the 2009-10 biennium.

How do I enroll in the Sales Class?

So you have decided to attend school and get your license! Here is a summary of the steps you will take to enroll in class and a link to the main site with more details.

Decide how you will pay for the course.

Check

Deposit of $50.00:

Send to Laurel Stone School of Real Estate, 303 South Bluemound Dr., Appleton, WI 54915.
The balance (class fee minus deposit) will be due the first day of class by either check or cash.
Include your:

Name
Address
Phone
Email address
Class you wish to attend

Pay the fee ($315.00) in full by sending a check to the address above.

Credit Card

Email me (Laurel) at LaurelStoneSchoolofRealEstate@gmail.com and provide me with:

Name
Address
Phone number
Email address to send invoice to
Class you wish to attend

You will receive an invoice by email from Paypal.

I will notify you when I send the invoice so you know that I received your email.
You may pay with either a credit card or your paypal account.
You will receive an instant receipt when you pay and if you don't get one, something didn't work correctly so you should try again.

Order the books.

Call 800-279-1972 and ask for the Education Department.
Tell them you will be attending the Laurel Stone School of Real Estate SALES class.
They will ship the book to you by UPS so have an address for UPS to deliver them to (they will arrive in a day or so).
If you are ordering the books near the class date you may want to have them delivered to the school at 303 South Bluemound Dr. Appleton, WI 59414.
Do not look at the books when they arrive except to check that they sent you the books for the SALES class.

Come to class the first day by 8:30 am. (dress code is casual)

What is the Licensing Process?

In Wisconsin you have to take a pre-license sales course prior to taking the state exam to be licensed as a Salesperson.

Laurel Stone School of Real Estate offers this course two ways:

After completing the education, there is a state exam that must be passed. Upon passing, you will receive an application to apply for your Salesperson's license.

I do not live in Wisconsin. Do I have to come there to take the state test?

Well, depends. :)

PearsonVue, the testing service, is nationwide but the only out of state testing sites are Chicago IL, Diluth MN and Edina MN so the answer is YES for those areas. However, if you live in Iowa, for instance, the answer is NO.

Can I take the Brokers Class right after the Salespersons Class before I test?

Yes. If you are planning to get your Brokers license right away, it is recommended that you do it that way.

I want to take the online courses. Should I order both programs at the same time?

If you are not licensed and want to get your Brokers license, yes, order both programs. There are various topics that are duplicated and you can work on those topics at the same time. Then when you complete both programs, you can take both tests.

When I take the state exam, how long does it take to get the results?

You get the results immediately at the test center.

Where do I get an application to apply for a license?

When you pass the exam, the proctor will give you an application.

When I apply for a license, how long does it take before I’m licensed?

When you send your application to Madison for a license, it will take a few days to be processed. You will first see it listed on the website of the Department of Regulation and Licensing and you can print it out at that time.

Do I have to be signed on with a Broker to come to class or get a license?

No. You can get a license without being associated with a broker but you cannot practice real estate. You can, however, collect referrals.

How soon after I take the class can I take the state test?

You can test as soon as you feel prepared to do so. Some students take it the day following the class and others wait for a longer period of time. It is important that you don't procrastinate because the longer you wait the more likely you are to forget some of the material.

I'm taking the 4 day Broker class. Should I schedule the test before the class begins?

Yes, it IS a good idea to schedule the test especially if you wish to take it right away. Occasionally, there is a waiting period so by having it scheduled, you know exactly when you will be testing.

Are there any other costs to get my license other than the cost of the class and books?

Yes. There is a cost for taking the exam and a cost to obtain your license.

If I want to get a Brokers license do I have to take the Salepersons class?

Yes. To get a Brokers license you have to fulfill the requirements for a Salespersons license. This means you have to take the education and pass the exam.

I'm a non-resident without a real estate license, can I become a Wisconsin Broker?

Yes, you can live in another state and be a Wisconsin Real Estate Broker. For instance, If you live in Minneapolis and have a Wisconsin Broker's license you can list and sell homes in Wisconsin.

You will have to file an Irrevocable Consent with the Department of Regulation and Licensing for Service of Process.

If you have a Wisconsin Salesperson's license and are a non-resident you cannot practice real estate except under a Wisconsin licensed Broker who may or may not reside in Wisconsin.

You also will have to file an Irrevocable Consent with the Department.

In addition, PearsonVue offers the Wisconsin exam in various places in Minnesota and in Chicago.
